A Night to Remember: The ‘Phantom Frequencies’ Listening Party
On July 31, 2024, we, Pop Shuvit, had the immense pleasure of hosting an exclusive listening party for our latest album, Phantom Frequencies. Held at Swee Lee, Lot 10, Kuala Lumpur, this event marked our return after a 13-year hiatus, and the atmosphere was electric with anticipation.
Venue and Atmosphere
Working with Swee Lee was nothing short of amazing. Their team supported us wholeheartedly, championing local music and providing the perfect space for an unforgettable night. The turnout was incredible, with not only our fans in attendance but also some of the biggest names in Malaysia.
We were honored to host notable guests like Khairy Jamaluddin and some of the gurus and industry heavyweights, including Darren Choy, Dato’ Sri Farid Ridzuan, and Nazri Noran. Their presence added a touch of prestige to the evening, and their support reinforced the impact of our music journey over the years.
Unveiling ‘Phantom Frequencies’
We presented all eight tracks from the album, each accompanied by personal anecdotes and insights into their creation. Some standout tracks include:
• ‘Gila Kuasa’, a bold collaboration with Noh Salleh from Hujan, addressing the oppression in Gaza.
• ‘Space Between Us’, featuring Ray Toro of My Chemical Romance, exploring the complexities of long-distance relationships.
• ‘Marabahaya Underground’, a fresh hip-hop twist on our classic, featuring rising local talent.
Hearing these songs fill the room, surrounded by friends, collaborators, and supporters, was a deeply emotional moment for us. The conversations they sparked about the themes, ranging from personal struggles to social issues, reaffirmed the power of music to connect people.
